George Michael (Nascido Georgios Kyriacos Panayiotou; Londres, 25 de junho de 1963 — Goring-on-Thames, 25 de dezembro de 2016), foi um cantor, compositor e produtor musical britânico de ascendência grega, considerado um dos grandes artistas de sua geração e um ícone da cultura popular.
Michael ficou famoso como membro da dupla Wham!, depois embarcando em carreira solo. Nascido no bairo de East Finchley, em Londres, Michael formou a dupla com Andrew Ridgeley em 1981. Os primeiros dois álbuns da dupla, Fantastic (1983) e Make It Big (1984), chegaram ao primeiro lugar da UK Albums Chart, no Reino Unido, e na Billboard 200, nos Estados Unidos. Eles então embarcaram em uma turnê mundial, desembarcando na China em abril de 1985, sendo a primeira visita de artistas ocidentais no país, o que levou a uma grande cobertura da mídia.
Seu primeiro single em carreira solo, "Careless Whisper", emplacou o primeiro lugar em mais de 20 países.[8] Michael lançou seu álbum solo, Faith, em 1987, chegando ao primeiro lugar no Reino Unido, ficando no primeiro lugar da Billboard 200 por 12 semanas. O álbum vendeu 25 milhões de cópias no mundo inteiro e permanece como um dos álbuns mais vendidos da história. Quatro singles do álbum, "Faith", "Father Figure", "One More Try" e "Monkey", chegaram ao primeiro lugar da Billboard Hot 100. Michael se tornou o artista mais vendido do ano de 1988 e Faith foi premiado com o Grammy de Álbum do Ano do 31º Grammy Awards, de 1989. Seu segundo álbum solo, Listen Without Prejudice Vol. 1, foi lançado em 1990 e novamente lançou o nome de George Michael no primeiro lugar com os singles "Praying for Time" e "Freedom! '90".
